F4XChange v0.99

Installed F4 Xchange, for FF555, had F4AF also installed on desktop.F4X install ok, and loading FF555 after few miss steps went well. A few days later I tried to fly A4AF it load normally but upon entry into the game both MFD's were green FCR HSD everything was green even targets. Went to F4AF disk and attempted the repair mode and it quits saying " F4AF end prematurely request not completed" I've tried several reinstalls of F4AF but it still comes up green. So the question is if I uninstall F4Xchange what happens to the registry does it go back to normal or does it vanish for ever? I'm thinking that F4Xchange must have grabbed something off the registry during upload of FF555. Any help on this one

WeakLink

well, if its outright striaght copying every single aspect of the concept, it would be illegal here too, but having 50% or so overlapping might be considered having been inspired by the book and thus be legal.

Seriously, your opinions are valid, but your should really have a look at the facts. We aren't talking about minor similarities, but glaring theft of the entire concept, with actual parts simply renamed for the game.

You've said already you haven't read the book, nor played the game. Neither have I. I have read the entire 42 page Complaint for Copyright Infringement, and if you were to even skim over it, you may come to the same conclusion - that this case is more that one of Ubisoft story writers being "inspired by" another work, but seemingly outright theft and open plagiarism.

Consider checking the facts before your next reply. Also, I wasn't aware I could come to Germany, steal another author's published story and make my own book/game/movie out of it without worry that he could take legal action, or demand compensation. I would assume such a strict country would have some kind of laws protecting against fraud and theft of publication and art.

i meant if it were a german author and a german game developer...
anyway, arent thought free to roam the planet?
i havent played the games and i havent read the book...
i just dont think they stole the ideas. maybe someone from the dev-team read the book years before and subconsciously put some of those ideas into the game.

should the ancestors of some prophet who lived 2000 years ago sue the USA for inventing tanks, just because he told about those?

It is true that this story was not published into a book by a large publishing house, but rather by the author himself through Infinity Publishing.
I contacted Infinity Publishing regarding this matter, but they declined to comment on the total number of copies they have been paid to publish since 2003. I did find out, however, that they are a company that authors can go to when their book would otherwise be rejected by larger, more well known publishing houses. They confirmed that they would not deny any book publishing request provided that the author paid them the appropriate fees. This author did in fact maintain and secure a copyright for his work, and it is eerily close to the storyline of Assassin's Creed.

I can assure you that the US does take copyright infringement very seriously, and through cooperation with Interpol, so does Germany. I have never seen a more clear cut case of plagiarism, personally, but that is really up to the jury to decide.

Read the complaint yourself and see what you think about these similarities...
